Joined the Board in September 2000 and was appointed Senior Independent Director in December 2003. A Chartered Accountant, he is a former Partner of Arthur Andersen & Co. In 1976, he joined JP Morgan and was Group Comptroller and later Managing Director of the London offices. In 1989, he was appointed Director, Group Finance at Midland Bank plc, later becoming Group Finance Director, HSBC Holdings plc. In 1996, he was appointed Director and Group Chief Financial Officer of National Westminster Bank Plc, a position he held until April 2000. He is a non-executive director of JP Morgan Cazenove Holdings and Fortis Group, and a Council Member and Treasurer of The Open University. |
